Welcome to the website of Michael Buxton, professional wedding pianist, arranger and conductor. Starting from July 2017 Michael is available for hire for your wedding, event or party.
Michael has played at many weddings and prestigious events, including for the British Royal Family, UK Prime Minister's, US Presidents and international Heads of State. His most recent Royal invitation was to perform at the wedding reception for Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall. On this site you can listen to his music, see some photos, and find out everything you need to know about booking him for your special event.
Michael is based in Shrewsbury but is happy to travel to pretty much anywhere in the West Midlands or North Wales. He has immense experience in all types of occasion, and is particularly at home with the requirements of a wedding or civil partnership, corporate event or Party. If you need any guidance, please feel free to get in touch.
Michael has a versatile repertoire ranging from popular hits to soul and jazz music with a little bit of classical piano thrown in. Due to many years of experience as a performer, he has played at countless events and can provide valuable advice on organising and planning your event. He would love to talk with you to discuss your individual event plans.
Michael can be trusted to know what works, what may not work and also what is and is not appropriate. He is happy to talk or meet with clients to discuss any specific requirements. Any personal musical requests for the Bride and Groom can be tailored to you as long as some advance notice is given.
Michael will quietly set the mood as your guests assemble with some solo piano pieces. A selection of familiar classical music can work very well at this point. This leads seamlessly to the Entrance of the Bride. Michael has played a huge selection of pieces at this point from the traditional to the more eccentric! You can rest assured he will create a very special moment, and bring it to a perfect close as she reaches her Groom. Michael will then play up to three pieces of your choice during the signing of the register and the taking of photos. And finally he’ll play something bright and uplifting to accompany the new Mr and Mrs as they lead their guests onward to further celebrations.
The choice of what style of music is played now is entirely up to you; A good selection of happy songs and tunes from classical to jazz, soul to classic and modern pop, goes down very well and keeps the cheerful mood going.
Once the meal is underway Michael continues with music that will engage you and your guests. Toes tapping and people beginning to mouth the words is the clue to people enjoying themselves. This can lead on to people singing along or even wanting to dance, but the beauty is that it is completely controllable from the piano.
